Ethical Consideration in the Pursuit of Perfection

Saturday 8th February 2020, University of Leeds Medical School


We would like to invite you to attend the 2020 national conference organised by the IME Student Council. The day is aimed at all students and foundation doctors with an interest in medical ethics, and with variety of workshops ranging encompassing clinical ethics, global health issues and ethical dilemmas in research, there will be something for everyone! We will also be showcasing your work in medical ethics through oral and poster presentations.

Key Note Speaker

Georgia Testa is the lead for medical ethics and law in Leeds Medical School.

Based in the Philosophy Department, Georgia has taught a number of different courses in Applied Ethics (Environmental Ethics, Ethics of War, and the Ethics of Life and Death). She is also the Director of Student Education for the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science.

From 2016-2019 she was the Chair of the IME’s Education Committee.

 

Workshops

Workshop titles are to be confirmed but will be lead by Pirashanthie Vivekanada-Schmidt (Sheffield University), Janet Holt (University of Leeds), Lorraine Corfield (Keele University) and Rhona Bratt (Leeds West Research Ethics Committee).

Workshops will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Registration will open soon. A £20 deposit is required to book your place however the deposit will be returned on attendance, making this a FREE conference!

 

Travel Funding

Attending? A limited number of grants are available for attendance at the Student Conference. Preference will be given to those presenting a paper or poster.
